Here in India, we’re unable to win a single Oscar. We’re unable to send the films that deserve to go there. So, imagine what the cinema of a director who has been to the Oscars seven times and brought home the trophy three times would look like. To find out the answer, you don’t have to do much. Just turn on Netflix and search for “Frankenstein.” Just like you, I’ve heard the name for the first time in years. That’s why I started watching the film as if it were a completely new topic and just kept watching.
They say this character is famous in Hollywood stories. Many films have been made on him. But how did he come into being? His story is on Netflix. You’ve definitely heard of “The Shape of Water” if you enjoy watching Hollywood cinema. This film won the 2017 Oscar, ranked number one worldwide, and it was made by the same director. After watching that film and this new one, I realized that this director is famous because he tries to breathe life into things that aren’t human, but are trying to become human. This is an almost two-hour film that’s 50% horror and 50% monster.
You could call it a thriller. Emotionally speaking, it’s a revenge drama, a tale of revenge. There aren’t any adult scenes. While there will be some bloodshed, there’s less violence and more compassion. And yes, Hindi dubbing is also available. The story is about a man who considers himself God. He wants to erase the difference between life and death forever. The mind of a scientist conjures up so many crazy ideas. This film gives shape to that, but when his obsession crosses the line, it becomes a devil.

He has invented a body that can neither be cut nor broken, feels no pain, and most importantly, he will never age or die. You might ask, “How is this possible?” The first half of the film uses science to answer this. He dispels all your doubts with every little detail. You’ll be convinced he’s immortal. But as the second half of the film begins, the scientist realizes that the very thing he created will be the cause of his death when this demon stops fearing him.
Now, who will survive to the end, and who will be dealt with in the middle? Each character, human or demon, will tell their backstory, forcing you to choose between right and wrong.
The film’s strength lies in its colorful, artificial world that feels real thanks to top-quality special effects and stunning imagination. But what truly won this director an Oscar is what makes this film special. The emotions are so strong, you can hate a living human while feeling sorry for the terrifying demon. For those like me, who are seeing this character for the first time, the story is fresh. It’s different. It’s quite unpredictable.
It will keep you hooked until the end. In terms of horror, the film isn’t one that will make you scream. However, some scenes are terrifying. Everyone is afraid of death, especially one with such a dirty face. But what will surprise you is the secret romance and love angle incorporated into the film, which transforms a science fiction film into a suspense thriller. It explains the difference between humans and machines. This film is already considered confirmed for this year’s Oscars.
This means it’s going home with its fourth trophy. Usually, you watch a film only after it wins an Oscar. This time, you can do the opposite: tell your friends when this film wins an Oscar, I already knew. The film gets four stars out of five. Story, emotions, colors, and special effects. Negative: The horror could have been a little more serious. The rest, you can adjust to your liking. Take care. Bye-B.
