You’ve probably seen this scene from a movie go viral on social media over the past few days. The actor’s acting has left viewers spellbound. The film from which this scene is from is called Kaanta, which has now been released in theaters. And believe me, that two-second scene was just a trailer. Two hours of this film will blow your mind. If you’re not shocked to hear that a film in 2025 was shot in black and white so that the real killer could easily escape by hiding in the darkness, then you’ll definitely be intrigued by this second fact, because the concept of the film is that not everything shown on screen is fake.
Who knows, the filmmaker might be apologizing for a crime he committed without telling anyone. This film is a murder mystery presented in a suspenseful thriller style, and the real killer is revealed in the very last two minutes. Before that, there’s only a deception. Let me make one thing clear here in no uncertain terms. This isn’t a movie that appeals to every type of audience. It’s more classy than mass, more time-pass than action-packed, as the film relies on tension.
Therefore, it progresses slowly and can be boring. But one thing is certain: in two hours, you’ll see something very different, unique, and perhaps even a Hollywood suspense experience. This film revolves around a film in the making. A famous actor wants to work with his former director again after years. He wants to forget past conflicts and move forward. He wants to win awards by making the Tamil industry’s most expensive horror film.
A new heroine, whose face no one has ever seen, enters this story to shock and scare people. Therefore, the twists and turns will be completely new. The horror will be a bit more intense. There’s one hero, one heroine, and one director. The only problem is the film’s ending, which is actually two. One is written by the director, and the other by the actor himself.
But when the camera rolls, and the film’s final scene begins, a different climax is shot, not just according to the director’s intentions or the hero’s script. A murder takes place on the film set. The gun was fake, but the bullet fired from it was real, putting the film’s characters to sleep forever, not just in the story but in real life. And this incident turns the film set into a police station.

There’s only one corpse, but there are many suspects. Bhalaldev will decide whose neck to hang. On one side is the king, on the other, the queen becomes a puppet between them. A story of humiliation, hatred, and revenge unfolds in real life. The special thing is that all the characters in this film are deceitful. There is no good man or woman; they are hiding more than they appear. The first half and second half are like separate films. The first hour will teach you about filmmaking and the film industry.
The love, romance, and backstory will be enjoyable. While the second half will reveal that the lives of the filmmakers are more interesting than the film itself, which never becomes public knowledge, but through cinema they reveal their biggest secrets. There’s a top-notch mystery element that continues until the very last scene, and you know, this film also has two climaxes. Who is the murderer? Even after the murder is revealed, another suspense is kept.
It will blow your mind.
Dilkar Salman is delivering world-class acting. His script selection should be researched separately. Every film teaches something different. Acting so realistically, this person becomes someone else. Rana will irritate you a bit. He will try to be funny, but you will get lost in Bhagyashree’s eyes. The murderer will take advantage of this and escape. And I don’t even feel like mentioning the director’s real name because it felt like a real-life director.
You have no idea how far a person can go to make their film work. Kanta gets 3 stars out of 5.
3 stars out of 5. The concept, the suspense, the acting, and the double climax. The downsides are the extra half-hour length and Rana’s misdirection. This is a film that will prove you’re a cinema lover. But only if you can stay patient until the end. Take care. Bye-bye.
